Fixers
This page collects the formulas for a few different (simple) fixers.
Preparations
Hypo, plain
For use as a second fix prior to toning, etc.
| Water (52°C) | 2000 ml |
| Sodiumthiosulfate | 480 gr |
Will fix a print within 30 sec. Solution has a short shelf-life and should be used directly. An acidic stop must be used before fixing, otherwise staining might occur.
Hypo, acidic
For use as a second fix prior to toning, etc.
| Water (52°C) | 2000 ml |
| Sodiumthiosulfate | 480 gr |
| Sodiumbisulfite | 45 gr |
Use undiluted. This formula can be stored and re-used.
Kodak F-24, acidic fix
Non-hardening fix. Acidic.
| Water (52°C) | 500 ml |
| Sodiumthiosulfate | 240 gr |
| Sodiumsulfite | 10 gr |
| Sodiumbisulfite | 25 gr |
| or | |
| Citric acid | 22 gr |
| Water to make, | 1000 ml |
Film: Use undiluted. Should clear a film in 5 min. Film fully fixed within 10 min.
Print: Fix in two consecutive baths for 5 min each. If fixing prints prior to toning, second bath should instead be a plain hypo.
