Pre-development bleach
To reduce contrast in prints and open-up shadows.
This bleach is applied post exposure but pre-development. The bleach primarily affect shadow regions.
Preparations
Prepare a stock and then working solution as described below:
Stock solution A
(Ferri 0.1%)
| Potassium Ferricyanide | 1 gr |
| Water, | to make 1000 ml |
Working solution
(Ferri, 0.001%)
Mix 1 part stock solution A with 99 parts water (10ml + 990ml)
Instructions for use
- Expose print. Print with increased contrast, 1 grade extra or more.
- Soak print in a 'one-shot' working solution of bleach, treat for approx 1-3 min.
- Rinse print in water
- Develop, stop and fix.
- Wash
To alter the effect, adjust strength of the 'one shot'-bleach. Try 0.01% - 0.001% (1+9 - 1+99).
